It might be odd to think of farm equipment when one hears the word Lamborghini, but this is exactly what Lamborghini started out as - A farm equipment company called Lamborghini Trattori. The founder of the company was Ferruccio Lamborghini who in the 1960's bought a Ferrari with the profits from his successful farm equipment company. Life changed for Lamborghini when he met Enzo Ferrari, the founder of Ferrari.

Ferruccio Lamborghini was a man that demanded high quality and he felt that his Ferrari was not meeting his expectations and he thought he could do better. He shifted his focus away from farm equipment and onto producing high performance automobiles.

The first real contender that they produced in the exotic car market was the Miura. The Miura was a mid engine, V-12 sports car that commanded a heft price tag of $20,000 which is equal to over $100,000 in today's economy. During its 6 year production run, 764 Lamborghini Miura's were built. Following on the success of the Miura was the highly successful Lamborghini Countach. This was the dream car for many from the mid 70's to 1990 when production concluded. This car was beautiful and had aggressive styling that had never been seen before.

No one thought the Countach could be topped, but Lamborghini did it one more time and created the highly successful Lamborghini Diablo. From 1990-2001 almost 3000 Diablo's were made and during their first year of production, a Diablo could be bought for $240,000 U.S. This was certainly not a luxury car and did not have many features for a car of it's price. It did however have incredible performance. The V12 engine allowed it to go from -60mph in just over 4 seconds!

Following the success of the Diablo would be hard, but the Lamborghini Murcielago went even further at showing the world that Lamborghini was a serious contender in the exotic sports car world. It continued the tradition of aggressive styling and super high performance and added four-wheel-drive when it was released in 2001. To this day the Murcielago is produced with over 3000 of them already sold to their wealthy customers.

In 2003 Lamborghini introduced the Lamborghini Gallardo, which is a "cheap" Lamborghini, as compared with it's more expensive sibling, the Murcielago. While the Murcielago costs about $315,000 U.S., the Gallardo is available at just over $200,000. Don't think that you have to give up performance when buying a Gallardo and not a Murcielago though. The Lamborghini Gallardo is quite capable with a 0-60mph time of around 4 seconds, depending on which particular variation. Unfortunately the Gallardo doesn't come with Lamborghini's signature scissor doors that open upward, but this hasn't hurt sales since the Gallardo is the high volume car that Lamborghini has ever made.

Over the years Lamborghini has suffered some financial problems and has been bought and sold a number of times and is currently owned by Audi, which is owned by Volkswagen. Lamborghini makes some of the most beautiful and sought after exotic cars available today and should be on everyone's list of favorite exotic car makers.

Growing up, I didn't hang posters of the Backstreet Boys, Leonardo DiCaprio or 2pac. My room was adorned with four posters that I still remember vividly. The Lamborghini Countach, Ferrari Testarossa, Nissan Skyline R34 and the McLaren F1, you know, the orange one with the wooded backdrop that we are probably all too familiar with. It's been many years since I've truly fantasized about owning one of those rare exotics, even though by today's standards they would be considered fairly "cheap" relative to their original MSRPs. So what would I hang on my wall right now? It wouldn't be the Bugatti Veyron - that would be almost too predictable, nor would it be the Mercedes-Benz SLS - that would be too clich. The Nissan GTR would be a good option but then that would be too practical. What car could I hang up today that I know would be cutthroat, nosebleedingly awesome like the cars of my youth? I haven't been able to find a car for years, until now: The Lamborghini Sesto Elemento.

The Lamborghini Sesto Elemento was originally revealed as only a technological showcase concept at the 2010 Paris Motor Show. Apparently some extremely wealthy people who are bored of their Enzos and McLarens pushed on Lamborghini to put the Sesto Elemento into production. The buzz generated was so great that Google Trends, a Google product that tracks search trends, had a 60x spike in Lamborghini Sesto Elemento searches in September of 2010, right after the initial presentation at the Paris Motor Show.

After the Paris Motor show all of our oil tycoon, ponzi scammer, and Hollywood friends thought it would be wise to help stimulate the global economy by turning their attention to Lamborghini and pushing them to make what will become the most expensive production car in the world. Lamborghini recently announced at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September that they will produce only 20 versions of this car. So unless you plan to get a capital infusion from Warren Buffet, I would scratch this one off your list.

The Sesto Elemento was originally designed around the Gallardo but built differently by being placed on a new all carbon technology that Lamborghini was itching to try out. The technology enhancements consist of a number of resin jellies, carbon composite materials, special hi-tech fabrics and a bunch of other new things that are interesting only if you have a degree in chemistry, but what's truly spectacular to me is that the resulting car weighs in at exactly 999kg. That's less than the weight of a Ford Focus, 40% lighter than the 1650kg Lamborghini Murcielago and 25% lighter than the Gallardo LP 570-4 Superleggera, an already light, stripped out, Gallardo that weighs a cool 1340kg. To put the weight into perspective from the other side, the Sesto Elemento weighs only twice as much as the Ariel Atom, which is essentially just a glorified go-kart.

Vehicle weight is not the best measure of anticipated head explosions, that is, until you factor in the power plant that will be propelling this beast. The Sesto Elemento will share a tuned version of the Gallardo's mid-mounted V10, producing 570 horsepower and 398 ft-lb of torque that breaks your neck by going 0-60 in 2.5 seconds. With that power and low weight, the Sesto Elemento has an extremely low power to weight ratio of 1.75kg per hp. The Toyota Prius isn't far behind (ha!) by yielding a 14.08 kg per hp, a BMW 760Li yields 5.13kg per hp, and the world renowned McLaren F1 yields 1.95kg per hp.

Not impressed yet? Have I mentioned that on top of being obscenely quick and anorexialy light that Lamborghini has also installed a permanent all-wheel drive system? That's right. Even with an AWD system, the Lamborghini Sesto Elemento still weighs less than most competing vehicles and can keep the power and traction steady as all 570 horses are put to the road.

Aside from all of the fancy numbers on paper, I would have to say that this is probably one of my favorite car designs that I've seen in years. Traditionally, I am usually wooed by the curves of Aston's artwork, the finesse of Ferrari's ingenuity or the elegance of Rolls Royce but Lamborghini's taken a totally different route with the Sesto Elemento and Aventador. Both of these cars feature sharp edges and clean lines that are so stunning you need to buy life insurance just to look at it. I believe that Lamborghini took a huge risk to step away from the industry design norms by making their latest creations look futuristic and menacing, but I really like it. I don't see James Bond driving a Sesto Elemento any day, but I could totally see Chuck Norris eating one for breakfast.

There has been talk over the past few years that ever since Audi took over Lamborghini that they're nothing but tamed bulls with R8 engines, but I think that Lamborghini's decided to make a statement with the Sesto Elemento. Lamborghini wants to be known as anything but tame; upon entering their website you're stopped with a warning: "Red evokes sin, guilt, pain, anger but also passion, courage, loyalty, honor, success and fortune. Do you Dare?" I would echo that question: do you dare? Do you dare purchase and drive a Sesto Elemento? Lamborghini might as well provide a letter of condolences already written for each of the 20 future Sesto Elemento owners. I'm betting that after they spend the $3+ million on the Sesto Elemento that the only thing that will remain is the tire marks of the legend that was.

The Lamborghini Aventador has the latest in Independent Shift Rods transmission, claimed to be faster and 'more emotional' than a dual-clutch system. Indeed, the seven-speed, semi-automatic gearbox achieves gear changes significantly faster than a dual clutch, in 50 milliseconds. From there, power is distributed throughout via an electronically-controlled Haldex coupling, distributing forces to both front and rear.

It is extreme in its design and its performance, uncompromising in its standards and technology, and unmistakably Italian in its style and perfection. Overall, the dynamics and technical excellence of the Aventador LP 700-4 makes it unrivalled in the worldwide super sports car arena."

The highest power to weight ratio of any supercar of this class is achieved with an engine block weighing just 235 kilograms, and an overall weight of just 1575 kilograms. This 6.5 litre 12-cyclinder lean machine produces a blistering 512 kw, reaching 62 mph in just 2.9 seconds. This sports car hire is indeed the bull with 700 horse power. On its television test debut, it achieved the second fastest time ever around the Top Gear track. However, despite the 8% increase in power over its forefathers, fuel consumption and CO2 emissions are reduced by around 20 percent.

Utopia is reached in the design cues of the Lamborghini Aventador. Whilst the Aventador represents an evolution of its predecessor, the Murcielago, it also contains hues of the limited-edition Reventon, as well as the Sesto Elemento and Estoque concepts.

The investment required to own an Aventador is over £200,000. Even if this is within your reach, all cars in the production run of the first eighteen months sold out within the first month post-launch. Production will be limited to 4000 as the moulds used to make the carbon fibre monocoque are designed to deliver 500 units each and only 8 have been made. The only way therefore to have one within your reach in the British Isles is through rent car UK.

Lamborghini recently unveiled the LP700-4 Aventador, which replaces the Murcielago as the Company's flagship model. If I'm honest, I believe that it is the best and most extreme looking Lamborghini ever made. This super sports car has a greater presence than any other Lambo ever made and its performance figures are just breathtaking.

Like prior Lamborghinis, the Aventador name was chosen for its symbolic connection to the world of fighting bulls, sharing a name with the legendary Aventador, who was a trophy-winning bull in the world of Spanish bullfighting. Bred by the sons of Don Celestino Cuadri Vides, the bull that bore the number 32 took part in a notably spirited, bloody and violent battle with a torero in the town of Zaragoza, Spain that earned him the "Trofeo de la Peña La Madroñera" in 1993. Gotta love the way these Italians choose the name.

Just when you thought horse power in a production car cannot get any higher, Lamborghini busts out with an engine that produces 690 hp and 509 lb-ft of torque. The power comes from a highly engineered 6.5 liter V12 and is transferred to the road via a 7-speed independent shift rod transmission (with dual synchronizers) supplied by Graziano Trasmissioni Group. The gearbox can execute a shift in 50 milliseconds, which is the same as the cycle time for the lowest audible tone, 20 Hz. To put that into perspective, a gear shift takes approximately 100 milliseconds in a high-performance Ferrari Enzo FXX. The LP700-4 Aventador also features a Haldex all-wheel drive system which helps distribute all that power to the road.

The LP700-4 has a curb weight of just 3,472 lbs, which is down 4.6% from the Murcielago, but still 15.4% heavier than Ferrari's Enzo flagship model. Some of the weight reduction was due to the LP700-4 having a carbon fiber-reinforced polymer (CFRP) monocoque structure which weighs only 324.5 lbs and partially to the light weight 505lb body.

All of the above combined will propel you to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds and a top speed of 217 mph. The Murcielago base model and Ferrari Enzo would hit 60 mph in 3.5 and 3.1 seconds, respectively, and reach a top speed of 205 and 220 mph. This is a vast improvement over the Murcielago, but the Enzo still beats it modestly in the top end.

Whether you consider yourself a car aficionado or not, you've more than likely heard of the famous Italian car maker Lamborghini. The tractor maker that got mad at Enzo Ferrari and decided he had enough of Ferrari unreliability and decided to start his own car company. You've also most likely heard of the Murcielago supercar and have seen plenty of pictures in magazines and in a lot of rap videos.

The Murcielago has been the most successful Lamborghini to date with unbelievable performance, power, driving dynamics and a beautiful design. Because of these attributes, the Murcielago has seen great success in the sales department and has helped Lamborghini with massive cash-flow, which in turn has been used to develop other cars, namely the Gallardo.

As great as the Murcielago is, it has been around for almost a decade and it needs a replacement. There has been much speculation about what car is going to be replacing the aging Murcielago. Most auto journalist had thought the new supercar from Italy will be called the "Jota" or it will have a numerical name "LP700-4". However, recent documents obtained from the United States trademark office reveal that Lamborghini has trademarked the name "Aventador", which is most likely the name of their latest supercar, which will either be revealed at the Los Angeles auto show in late 2010 or early 2011 at one of the many European auto shows. It is quite possible that the new supercar will be named Aventador because of its Spanish origins, for those not familiar with how Lamborghini names their cars, they use names of famous Spanish bulls for their cars and Aventador is a famous bull that is also known as the "bull of the sons of Don Celestino Cuadri Vides".

The Aventador supercar is going to be the most powerful and fastest car ever produced by Lamborghini. Special attention has been paid to the weight of the car, as the more a car weighs the slower it's going to be and there for a greater need for a bigger engine. The Aventador is said to weigh 500 pounds less than the Murcielago, making it one of the lightest supercars that will be available in the marketplace in 2011. The car's design has been tested in the wind-tunnel to reduce drag as much as possible which will assist in the car achieving top speed. The design of the car is said to be based on the Reventon supercar, which was produced in very limited numbers and cost a whopping $1.25 million and is to date the most expensive Lamborghini.

The Aventador will also use the same engine as the Reventon which is a 6.5 liter V12 but will be producing more horsepower than the Reventon. The engine will use direct injection to produce 750 horsepower and do the 0 to 60 miles per hour run in a mind boggling 2.9 seconds. The engine is mated to a 7-speed transmission which is shifted through Formula One style paddle shifters on the steering wheel, sending power to all four wheels.
